Mosaic Art Projects was founded by Gareth Dunster and Karen Pow in 2007, it specializing in hand made mosaic artworks. After 5 years, Gareth left and Harn-Kae Chao joined in. The new duo who have dedicated themselves to the art of mosaic, sculpture and painting. They work mainly on commission, community and educational art projects.
Karen Pow was born in Hong Kong and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (majoring in Scenic Art) from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Harn-kae Chao was born in Malaysia. He received a Diploma of Fine Arts from Malaysia Institute of Art and has resided and worked in Hong Kong since 2004.
Early in the duo's career, they were theme paint artist, sculptor and art director for different theme parks, which include Hong Kong and Shanghai Disneyland, Dubai theme park, Singapore Universal Studio, Australia theme park and Ocean Park. They cooperated with professionals from all over the world including artists, designers, architects, sculptors, engineers, etc. These experiences have greatly improved their painting and sculpture making technique professionally as well as broadened their artistic horizon.
The duo have been the project artist for Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation, MTR, SWIRE, The Housing Authority, W Hotel, Habour City, Lane Crawford, CItibank, Sky 100, Ocean Recovery Alliance, Ronald Mcdonald's House, Venetian Macau, Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden Corporation and The Link.
The duo's workshop locates in Kennedy Town where one off art pieces are created there day by day.
